Thaba Nchu

Thaba Nchu is a small town that's filled with big adventures, and is popular with tourists. The town is situated just east of Bloemfontein, the capital of the Free State, in the Motheo region.

The summers in Thaba Nchu are warm, perfect for the outdoor activities this region offers. The rainy season is in summer, so the winters are cold, but bright and sunny.

The Protea Hotel Black Mountain offers a range of activities. From a luxury spa with massage rooms and saunas, to game drives in the nearby Maria Moroka Nature Reserve. The reserve has zebra, black wildebeest, eland, springbok, blesbok, red hartebeest and white rhino, and more than a hundred species of birds.

There's also an 8km hiking trail to the Thaba Nchu Mountain. You can also explore the vast Ratlou Shopping Complex, and go angling at the Montloatse Setlogelo Dam.
