The superior Mbale Resort Hotel, located on the fringes of the Mount Elgon National Park, joins Africa’s largest hospitality group, Protea Hotels, on July 1, 2012. The elegant building in its sweeping gardens comprises 75 rooms and suites, many with balconies overlooking the large, tranquil swimming pool in its lush, tropical setting. The mood is one of quiet elegance and deep comfort. Luxurious but not plush, the dark wood, silks, leathers and soft, natural lighting create richly sensual, tactile interiors. The elegantly appointed bedrooms have air-conditioning; satellite TV, DVD/CD, mini-bar and complimentary wireless internet. Choose from extra length King Size beds or extra length twins. The spacious, contemporary bathrooms are all equipped with baths and quality amenities. Most rooms have their own private balconies overlooking Mount Elgon. Stuart Cook, MD of Protea Hotels East Africa, said he was delighted to welcome the superb property into the group. “Mbale is also the centre of Ugandan coffee cultivation, so it’s an important regional business hub and Protea Hotels East Africa is looking forward to gaining a foothold in the area.” Protea Hospitality Group CEO Arthur Gillis said the company was rapidly expanding into Africa this year, with new builds and portfolio acquisitions that equated to investment of R1 billion. “Africa’s business hubs are expanding and developing, and the Protea Hospitality Group is going to be at the forefront of this African economic renaissance,” Gillis said. “We have new hotels going up in Uganda, Zambia and Nigeria this year, many of them in the developing business hubs, and we’re very excited to be taking such a trusted, recognised brand into new regions.” -end- |
