Cape Town, 4 August 2009: Protea Hotels has acquired the management contract for The Hilton Hotel, an architectural showpiece in the Natal Midlands. Protea Hotel Hilton with its imposing Tudor lines is a must stay for a meandering country charm seeker. Originally established in 1936, the Hotel now boasts all the modern amenities that will satisfy the needs of both business and leisure travellers. “Acquiring this hotel has great strategic value for Protea Hotels as the Hilton area is increasingly popular for leisure, business and government travelers,” said Danny Bryer, Group Sales, Marketing and Revenue Director, Protea Hotels, “It is driven by the demand for accommodation in the Pietermaritzburg area, which is the home to the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government.” Hilton is the gateway to the Midlands Meander Craft Route and the magnificent Drakensberg Mountain Range and houses two of the country’s most elite schools – Hilton College and St Annes. This makes the 3-star hotel a perfect retreat for parents visiting their well-groomed teenagers over a mid-term break and treating them to a choice of mouth-watering cuisine at the popular Scripts Restaurant. The tranquil surrounding is ideal for conferencing, banquets and allows for a variety of functions, catering for up to 250 delegates with many unique breakaway room facilities. The outdoor Tudor terrace surrounding a large swimming pool is a fantastic venue set against a backdrop of beautiful rolling lawns and gardens. Protea Hotel Hilton has 38 rooms and plans are underway for expanding the property. This is the second Protea Hotel property in KwaZulu-Natal acquired in 2009, the other being Protea Hotel Umhlanga Ridge which opened in July. -ends- RELATED OR SIMILAR ARTICLES: |
