The Lighthouse Breakfast Restaurant and Bar is situated on the 2nd floor of the hotel offering delicious breakfasts. The restaurant seats 100 GUESTS and is open from 06:30 to 10:30 and the bar is open from 14:00 to 22:00.

Conference facilities

The state-of-the-art conference centre is situated on the 9th floor of the Protea Hotel Umhlanga and overlooks the Umhlanga coastline. The conference centre can seat up to 180 delegates in cinema style, while breakaway rooms and a boardroom are also available for smaller, informal get-togethers.

Sports and recreation

The Hotel is conveniently situated for most sporting facilities. It is a stone's throw away from the Umhlanga Country Club with tennis and bowls facilities and the Ski Boat Club offers deep-sea fishing trips on request. Scuba diving and horse riding facilities are also close by. Golf courses, squash courts, a gymnasium, jogging track, games room and a ten-pin bowling alley are all within 10 minutes drive of the hotel.

• Turn left at Umhlanga Rocks Drive (go through 1 traffic circle) [450m]
• At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit and stay on Umhlanga Rocks Drive/M12 [1.3km]
• Continue onto McCausland Crescent [110m]
• At the 3rd set of robots, turn right into the Ridge road [84m]
• Take the first left [8m]
• Protea Hotel Umhlanga will be on the left, opposite the Umhlanga Shopping Centre

Attractions

Umhlanga Rocks forms part of the famous Sugar Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. The name ‘Umhlanga’ means ‘Place of Reeds’ and the area is one of South Africa's prime upmarket holiday destinations situated just north of Durban. The area is well known for its landmark lighthouse, golden beaches, beautiful parks and a selective variety of accommodation and delicious cuisine.
