PROTEA HOTEL THABA 'NCHU FOR LEISURE & CONFERENCES - 01 November 2005

Protea Hotels has announced the addition of Protea Hotels Black Mountain, a Premier Protea Hotel, previously Thaba 'Nchu Sun, to their Free State selection. "This is an exciting addition to our Free State portfolio, offering a great location and 4-star accommodation for the leisure and conference markets," said Mr. Bill Ford, Regional Director for Protea Hotels. Conveniently linked by the new N8 highway from Bloemfontein, the hotel is situated within the Maria Moroka National Park. The property has 118 en-suite rooms and caters predominantly for leisure travellers as well as conference groups.

Carved from a hillside of unspoilt bush, the Protea Hotel Black Mountain (formerly Premier Protea Hotels Thaba 'Nchu) overlooks a dam and almost 6 000 hectares of game reserve. A celebration of African traditional architecture, the design of the hotel combines the luxury and elegance demanded of a sophisticated resort. Public areas are under interlinked pyramids, whose patterned walls and grey slate roofs fit into the landscape.

The hotel offers GUESTS a host of leisure and sporting facilities, such as a golf driving range, fully-equipped gymnasium with sauna and Jacuzzi, entertainment centre for children, sundowner cruises, fishing and a solarium.

Conference facilities comprise six venues, seating from 27 in U-shape style to 400 for cocktail functions. All venues have standard conference equipment, as well as secretarial facilities on request.
