In the heart of the adventure capital of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, a mere 20 minute drive from the Kruger National Park, Protea Hotel Hazyview is nestled on a hill overlooking the beautiful Sand River Valley.

Set among lush gardens with an abundance of birdlife, the 87 rooms add to the sense of being away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The hotel has a wide variety of dining options to ensure that we cater to all appetites including a specialized menu for our younger visitors.

This charming country retreat is situated on a magnificent 10 acre garden estate with breathtaking views and superb facilities. Our stylish yet luxurious rooms are all en-suite providing a spacious and comfortable environment. All rooms offer air-conditioning, satellite TV, laptop sized electronic safes and other modern amenities. Our Family Rooms can comfortably accommodate large families.

Healthy appetites are perfectly catered for at the Letaba Restaurant and adjacent terrace, where sumptuous buffets and our signature a la carte menu is served. For a more traditional and outdoor alternative, enjoy the rhythm of Swazi harmony and traditional barbeque fare under African skies in our renowned Boma.

Alternatively, special functions such as luncheons, dinners or barbeques can be arranged to suit your specific requirements.

Sporting and Recreational Facilities

Facilities at Protea Hotel Hazyview include a swimming pool, tennis court, our exciting kids zone or take a leisurely walk around the indigenous gardens. Our front desk team can assist you with advice of what to do and make arrangements on your behalf, such as squash, horse riding, hiking, mountain bike trails as well as white river rafting or tubing that are all nearby. Even hot-air ballooning can be arranged! Golfing enthusiasts have access to a number of excellent golf courses.

Conferencing and Banqueting

The hotel’s idyllic setting lends itself to conferences of up to 150 delegates. We also cater for private luncheons, dinners and weddings in either our function venues or at the poolside terrace.

Boma

Feel the rhythm of Swazi in our time honoured Boma! For groups looking for a truly South African experience filled with traditional Swazi dancers and good food, it’s the place to be. Location

Protea Hotels Hazyview is only 4 hours from Johannesburg when travelling by road and a mere 15 minutes from the Kruger National Park. The scenic Panaroma Route of the breathtaking Drakensburg escarpment begins at Graskop, 30 minutes away from the hotel.

From the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport follow the road to White River and take the R40 north.

On the R40 road, 38 km after White River and 7 km before Hazyview.

The following routes are recommended

1. From Johannesburg - N12 towards Witbank, after which the road becomes the N4 to Nelspruit
2. From Pretoria - N4 towards Witbank, after which the road becomes the N4 to Nelspruit
3. Stay on the N4 towards Nelspruit, passing Witbank, the Middelburg toll gate (R27), Shell Ultra City, Middelburg, Belfast, Engen One Stop, Milly's Star stop with BJs Restaurant, Machadodorp and the Machadodorp Tollgate (R47), Waterval Boven, Waterval Onder and the Sappi Station at Ngodwana
4. When entering Nelspruit, carry on past the first and second set of traffic lights (you'll see the Mercure and the Formula One Hotels on your right)
5. Turn left at the third set of traffic lights (with slipway) onto the R40 Road. The Town Lodge and Road Lodge are on your right hand side before turning at this intersection
6. Proceed on this road ( R40) to White River
7. Upon entering White River, turn Left at the first traffic light( with slipway), marked Uplands College
8. 200m further is the next traffic light, turn right (marked Hazyview, Bagdad Cafe, Kruger National Park etc)
9. Pass through the first traffic light. At the second traffic light, the road reconnects with the R40. Turn left towards Hazyview (with slipway). You'll see the bus terminal on your left
10. Carry on straight on the R40, passing the Bagdad Cafe and Greenway Woods on your left hand side
11. Proceed straight on towards Hazyview and, about 38 kilometers after White River, (7km before Hazyview) on the right hand side of the road, you will see the Protea Hotel Hazyview sign
