Wine and Dine

The Brasserie Restaurant situated on the ground floor of the hotel and is open 7 days a week, opens at 06h30 and serves meals until 23h00.

A delicious full buffet breakfast is available from 06h30 until 10h30 every morning and there is an a la carte menu available daily for lunches, dinners and light meals.  All meals can also be enjoyed on our Terrace with Durban’s subtropical  climate and the warm sea breeze.

Conference and Banqueting Facilities

Protea Hotel Edward offers extensive conference facilities, with the largest function room accommodating up to 200 GUESTS cinema style and 160 GUESTS for a banquet dinner.  We cater for full and half day conferences, seminars, presentations, gala dinners, award evenings, road shows and is the ideal wedding venue.  The surrounding beach area and promenade offer an ideal outdoor area for teambuilding events.

Sports and Recreation

The rooftop pool over looking Durban is ideal for enjoying sun-downer drinks after a busy day and the hotel is in close proximity to many leisure and fun activities.  Dolphin watching, surfing, golf, rock climbing, shopping, theatres and animal farms are a few things to do and places to visit while you are staying at the hotel.

• Go through toll road
• Travel approximately 8kms, Take M27 Umhloti/ Verulam off ramp

• Take first right off ramp, M4 Umhlanga
• Travel approximately 24kms
• Go over 2 sets of traffic lights
• At 3rd light turn left into KE Masinga Road.
• Go through robot and at 2nd traffic circle keep right into OR Tambo Parade.
• Travel about 600m and Protea Hotel Edward is on your left.

Attractions

The Protea Hotel Edward is situated on the beachfront and opposite Funworld, a heaven for kids with numerous fun rides such as the chairlift and carousel.

Visit uShaka Marine World with its dolphinarium, sea pool and enough water slides to keep any adrenalin junkie happy.  Seaworld, which is part of the complex, is home to sharks, seals, turtles and a large variety of other fish and sea creatures.  It is the largest aquarium in the southern hemisphere with underground viewing galleries. Dine in style at one of uShaka’s many restaurants.

Minitown is a miniature city situated on the beachfront and complete with replicas of famous Durban landmarks, including the Protea Hotel Edward.
