PROTEA HOTEL COLOSSEUM TO SATISFY DISCERNING MODERN TASTES The all-suite four star Protea Hotel Colosseum, located at Century City, Cape Town, is set to open 1 November 2007. Forming part of the mixed-use Colosseum building and catering primarily for the business traveller, this R140-million development is set to add a touch of glamour to the vibrant West Coast corridor - the fastest growing residential area in South Africa. Bernard Cassar, Cape Regional Director for Protea Hotels, says that the Protea Hotel Colosseum is the second hotel to be developed by the Singer Group in the rapidly growing Century City area following the opening of the Protea Hotel Island Club Hotel in 2004. “The Protea Hotel Colosseum offers a luxurious alternative and will perfectly complement the existing Protea Hotel Island Club, which has already proven a huge success with record high occupancies.” Comprising 62 spacious suites and eight luxurious penthouses, the hotel is situated on the top two floors of the mixed-use Colosseum building – a growing trend in Cape Town developments. Visitors will be welcomed by ground floor reception, be able to unwind at a sophisticated cocktail bar and choose between fine dining on the mezzanine level or request a private dining room. Business travellers will also be able to access complimentary Wi-Fi connectivity, a high-tech sound room and an executive boardroom – catering for all forms of corporate interaction. The penthouses range in size of between 111 m2 and 173 m2 and each include a private balcony that boasts breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean across Table Bay. Modern in design, all rooms will have at least one large plasma or LCD screen television, luxurious state of the art furnishing and free internet access. Finishes include laminated timber flooring, free-standing bath tubs, separate showers and a semi self-catering kitchenette. Cassar says that proximity to the largest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere, Canal Walk, is also a major drawcard for visitors. “In addition, the vibrant Century City area is one of the fastest growing business and residential areas in the Cape and is a perfect fit for our Protea Hotels brand, combining aesthetically pleasing construction with world-class shopping and entertainment options.” |
