Hotel Facilities
The Protea Hotels President has everything one would expect from a full-service, world-class hotel. There is a security-controlled entrance, 24 hours surveillance, 200 undercover parking bays as well as outdoor parking, porters to greet you and help you with your luggage and a travel desk and GUEST Relations desk in the foyer to assist you. There is a curio shop and the Amber International hair and beauty Salon for those GUESTS that want to treat themselves, relax or prepare for a special occasion.

The Islands Restaurant serves a sumptuous buffet breakfast, a la carte lunch and buffet dinner. Varied entertainment - in the form of bands, a pianist, or wine tasting - creating the ideal atmosphere for GUESTS wishing to relax and enjoy a splendid meal. (Buffet dinners with entertainment are seasonal and take place from September until the end of April. From May to September, we feature our new a la carte menu.)

The Senate Bar is open from 2pm till late and the STAFF look forward to serving you the cocktail of your choice. There is also a lounge area in which GUESTS may relax with sundowners.

For those GUESTS who want to sit outside and relax by the pool, there is a Cabana bar outside during summer as well as The Terrace restaurant which serves light meals.

Sporting and Leisure Activities
Spend lazy afternoons at the swimming pool, taking in the stunning views of the sea and beach, or enjoy a number of sporting facilities (including watersports) in the vicinity. These include tennis, squash, bowls, golf, jetskis and a gym. There is also an in-house gym complimentary to all GUESTS, as well as a physiotherapist and doctor on call to the hotel.
If you're looking to do some shopping, the Canal Walk Shopping Centre has a scheduled shuttle which will pick you up and drop you back off right outside the hotel's front door. The V&A Waterfront also runs a shuttle which stops nearby the hotel.

4. Exhibition venue catering for themed evenings and exhibitions seating up to 500 people dinner dance. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

Directions from Cape Town International Airport

1. Take the N2 and follow the signs into Cape Town
2. When the highway forks, take the right fork which leads onto the Eastern Boulevard
3. When you get to the intersection at the end of the highway (at the Waterfront), you will see the Cape Town Convention Centre (CTICC) on your left
4. Cross over those traffic lights and at the next set of traffic lights, turn right
5. Go straight, following the signs to Sea Point / Camps Bay until you get to a large traffic circle
6. Cross over the circle and carry on straight, past the Green Point Stadium and Virgin Active Gym & Tennis Club (all on the right hand side).
7. At the next set of traffic lights, go straight and you will enter into Beach Road
8. Carry right along Beach Road for approximately 3km until you get to a smaller traffic circle
9. Turn left into Queens Road at the circle and then take the first road right into Alexander Road
10. The Protea Hotels President is the 2nd hotel on your left.

Attractions

The Protea Hotel President is the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Cape. Only 5 minutes from the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Two Oceans Aquarium, 5 minutes from Clifton and Camps Bay Beach, 10 minutes from the Table Mountain Cable Way, and 25 minutes to Canal Walk shopping centre and the international airport.

Teenagers and adults alike can walk along the Sea Point Main Road adjacent to the hotel where they can find many department stores, boutiques and restaurants. Directly in front of the hotel are small beaches as well as popular surf spots. The Sea Point promenade, popular amongst locals for romantic strolls and jogging - starts in front of the hotel and continues to the V&A Waterfront. On this walk, children can be entertained by a park, a putt-putt course, the blue train picnic area and a maze. For the fitness enthusiast, The Virgin Active gym is a 3 minute drive away and, for those wanting to experience Cape Town's nightlife, there are many trendy bars and clubs within a 10-minute driving radius.

Cultural attractions nearby include the parliament buildings, SA National Art Gallery, Planetarium, National History Museum, The Gold Museum, craft markets, The District Six museum and The Cape Castle. Robben Island can be seen clearly from the hotel and boat rides to the island depart 5 minutes away at The V&A Waterfront.

For nature lovers, there are many hiking and walking trails up and along Table Mountain and Lions Head and, 40 minutes away from the hotel, you can find wine routes and farms where one can sample the Cape's world-class wines, cheeses and South African farm-stall goods.

Rooms

Accommodation at the Protea Hotel President comprises 349 well-appointed rooms and suites on the Bantry Bay beachfront. In accordance with new smoking legislations, the hotel now offers three smoking and non-smoking floors. GUESTS can choose to have either a sea-facing or mountain-facing room, as well as whether to have twin or double beds. The hotel also offers 3 disabled rooms and is also designed (by means of ramps and elevators) to accommodate disabled GUESTS.

All rooms and suites contain tea and coffee making facilities, a remote control satellite television, hairdryer, telephone, sleeper couch, individual air conditioning, electronic room safe, ADSL plug-point and wireless internet, safety latches and electronic locking devices on all doors. Kitchenettes are stocked with appliances, crockery and cutlery, but do not contain hot plates or an oven.

Our recent refurbishment has seen all of our rooms and passageways re-painted, to create a warm and welcoming feeling for our valued GUESTS. You will also find brand new sleeper couches in all sea-facing rooms, as well as new voile curtains and desk lamps. All chairs in the rooms have been recovered and the rooms are looking totally refreshed. But, don't take our word for it ... come and experience it for yourself.

This buffet includes a wide salad and starter selection, whole roast meats, stews and curries, fish, pasta dishes, vegetables, chef’s special of the day and a wide selection of homemade desserts..

FRIDAYS - Seafood Buffet - R230 pp
Food: Wide selection of salads and starters which include seafood cocktail, shrimps, terrines, sushi, crab sticks, pickled fish, peppered mackerel and smoked salmon, to name but a  few! This buffet also includes chicken salad, caprise salad, beef stir fry, potato salad, etc. Mains include deep fried calamari, grilled prawns, mussels, fish, sea food paella, seafood curry, roast meats and a wide selection of vegetables. Wide selection of home made desserts.
Activity: Choose your own calamari steak, tiger prawns, catch of the day or Norwigian salmon to be grilled to your liking while you wait. Please note that only two of the above will be served at a time. Make your own salad from a wide selection of salad condiments .

Food: Wide selection of starters and salads which include highlights such as gemsbok carpaccio, ginger beef salad, roasted butternut and feta salad to name but a few!
