NIGERIA TOURISM FEDERATION AWARD TO PROTEA HOTELS - 01 September 2006

In a ceremony held in Nigeria in August, Protea Hotels received an all encompassing award covering the nine hotels currently operated in Nigeria.  The accolade was presented by the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, in recognition of Protea's unparalleled management skills for the 'Most Outstanding Hotel Management Company' in the country. "This is an award which goes to the very heart of our business, an accolade to each and every Protea Hotels General Manager and all our STAFF operating in Nigeria, as well as to the regional office responsible for this district," said Bernard Cassar, Protea Hotel Director Special Projects for the Africa Region.

Having entered into Nigeria five years ago, Protea has won various awards relating to individual hotels over the last few years, including the Travellers Award Gold for Protea Hotels Nike Lake Resort - Best Hotel in Nigeria (East); The Travellers Award Silver for Protea Hotels Ranch Resort (now Obudu Ranch Resort) - Best Resort in Nigeria; and the Certificate of Excellence as the Most Outstanding Hotel Managers in Nigeria by African Pride and Society Pride Magazines.

Nigeria remains a hub of growth for the Protea group, with a number of new hotels coming on stream in the next year. Two new-builds will be opening later this year, namely Protea Hotels Abuja, aimed at the top-end of the market and Protea Hotels Maryland, situated in Ikeja, Lagos, located minutes from the Lagos International Airport.
