October 2010: Business is getting back to business as conferencing venues show increased bookings from a wide variety of corporate companies, according to African Pride Hotels’ Group Marketing and Advertising manager Nicholas Barenblatt.

“The African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa in Century City has become the premier conference and convention hotel in the Western Cape and you can see by the booking patterns there that after the financial austerity of recent years, companies are prepared to pay for quality conference venues and bespoke experiences again.

“The trend is a mixture of day conferencing and extended stays for meetings that last on average three days,” Barenblatt said. “Over the past few months we’ve seen pharmaceutical companies, motor manufacturers and a variety of corporate companies booking the hotel’s numerous convention venues and executive boardrooms.

“In fact, the demand has been so great that the hotel opened a fourth conference room last month, which has a terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and new suspension bridge which links the hotel to the largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere. That’s in addition to the nine boardrooms. The addition of Crystal 4 brings the total number of delegates the hotel is able to accommodate to 420 and we need every inch of that new space to meet demand.”

Barenblatt said the African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa executive boardrooms were particularly popular and guaranteed a focused and disturbance-free meeting.

He said The African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa was built with executive gatherings in mind.

“The hotel is a mere 15 minutes from both Cape Town International Airport and the Cape Town CBD, with full shuttle service available. The Life Day Spa on the premises is a fantastic place to relax when guests are taking a conferencing break. It offers a Rasul chamber, 7 completely private individual treatment rooms, 2 couples treatment rooms, a flotation tank, a gym, sauna and steam rooms, plus an outdoor terrace with access to the stunning suspended swimming pool. We have full undercover parking with a valet service and complimentary high-speed wireless internet.

“The hotel’s Towers Restaurant, public relaxation areas and rooms are also superb. With ambient lighting in the rooms, crystal showers, executive work stations, a DVD library, flat-screen televisions that fold away at the foot of the bed and laptop safes, it’s not surprising that the hotel is so popular in the group and conference market.”
