Bloemfontein

Bloemfontein is the judicial capital city of The Free State province and is the sixth largest city in South Africa. Located in the Motheo region, it's nicknamed 'The City of Roses'. This well-loved city is situated on the main road, rail and air links between the north, south, east and west of South Africa.

Bloemfontein is a modern city with a thriving central business district. You can choose from a large variety of places of interest and cultural hot-spots, such as the Oliewenhuis Art Gallery, the Rugby Museum, the Anglican Cathedral, the Nasionale Afrikaans Museum and the First Raadsaal. You could also visit the Jubileum Building, Maphikela House, the Old Government Building, as well as the CR Swart Building, Lock Logan Waterfront, the Fountain, the Women's Memorial Museum, the War Museum and the Sand du Plessis Theatre.

A visit to Bloemfontein's art and craft-markets can be followed by a game drive in the nearby Franklin Game Reserve. Naval Hill and the State President Swart Park are also well worth a visit, while the Aventura Maselspoort resort offers watersport and other activities.
