HOSPITALITY PROPERTY FUND EXTENDS MARKETING AGREEMENT WITH PROTEA HOTELS - Feb 2008
The JSE-listed Hospitality Property Fund - a property loan stock company, specialising in hotel and leisure industry property investment - has announced the extension of its marketing agreement with Protea Hotels, Africa's largest and leading hotel operating company, to include eight additional hotels.
Arthur Gillis, Group Managing Director for Protea Hotels, said that the extension to the agreement is the fruition of an established relationship with the company. "We have a proven track record with Hospitality Property Fund and they have recognised our expertise with the marketing of their properties such as the Protea Hotel Victoria Junction (Cape Town), the Protea Hotel Marine (Port Elizabeth) and the Protea Hotel Richards Bay."
The deal will see Protea Hotels marketing eight prime properties that will include, among others, The Mount Grace Country House and Spa (Magaliesburg), The Rosebank (Johannesburg), The Hazyview Hotel (Kruger National Park), The Winkler Hotel (Mpumulanga), The Richards and Bayshore Inn (Richards Bay), The Hluhluwe Hotel and Safari's and the Imperial in Pietermaritzburg. Five-star properties will be marketed under the exclusive portfolio of the African Pride collection, tailored for deluxe five-star hotels, safari lodges and country houses. "Hospitality Property Fund has offered us these top quality properties, operating in ideal locations which will increase our national footprint. All the properties are perfect venues for the seasoned national or international traveller," said Gillis.
According to Chief Operating Officer of Hospitality Property Fund, Andrew Rogers, Protea Hotels' technological infrastructure was also a significant draw card in the deal. "They have the most advanced integrated online distribution network in Africa with innovative marketing and reservation systems, as well as operating with the industry's largest national sales team."
The hotels will continue to be managed by Hospitality Property Fund's own in house hotel management team.
The agreement is with immediate effect.
