There are over four hundred ostrich farms around Oudtshoorn. Three of these farms have achieved the status of show farms. Oudtshoorn also caters for the outdoor sportsperson, offering horse riding, white water rafting facilities, an impressive eighteen-hole golf course and miniature aircraft adventures. Car enthusiasts can participate in 4x4 trails, and bike and hiking enthusiasts have their veritable pick of routes surrounding the area. The Swartberg Pass is a splendid drive and has been declared a national monument.
