The Namaqualand flowers, in bloom from July to September, are a splendid site, and draw plenty of visitors each year. The Northern Cape has an abundance of San rock art paintings. The San were hunter-gatherers who lived off the harsh desert, and their rich cultural heritage has been preserved in paintings in caves throughout the province.

Kimberly was the centre for growth in the region when diamonds were discovered, the Kimberly Mine Museum is an excellent resource today. With viewing decks into the Big Hole, this ‘living museum’ shows the old shops, bars, churches, restaurants and banks almost exactly as they were at the height of the diamond digging days.
