The most renowned feature of Cape Town is Table Mountain. The city is located on its slopes, and there's a revolving cable car that carries visitors to the top of the mountain (1,086m above sea level) for an incomparable view. Make sure to bring a camera to capture the entire city and its coastline beneath you. The more adventurous can attempt the ascent on foot, but be warned, it's no mean feat, and proper precautions should be taken. One of Cape Town's most memorable destinations is the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, situated alongside the harbour, with its immense selection of shops, excellent restaurants, multiple cinemas, craft markets, pubs, and other activities. The Waterfront is a working harbour and it is no surprise to often see fishing boats and luxury cruise liners berthed side by side. The Two Oceans Aquarium is a wonderland of marine life where children of all ages can get up close and personal with some of the ocean's most elusive creatures. The metropolitan area spans from the southern peninsula to the Cape Winelands towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl and Worcester. Here you will find some of the oldest and finest wine estates in the country. Cape Town comprises many, many different cultures and traditions, making it a truly cosmopolitan city with many trendy boutiques, restaurants, cocktail bars and coffee shops.
The Waterfront itself is also home to two of our hotels. You'll find our 3-star Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge, a majestic castle-like building once a 19th century prison, and the 4-star Protea Hotel Victoria Junction, a thoroughly modern and creatively-designed hotel with a unique stage-and-screen themed restaurant and bar. Near Sea Point and Green Point lies the premium beachfront suburb of Bantry Bay. This exclusive alcove marks the start of the Platinum Mile, and a seemingly endless stretch of shoreline. At its heart is the luxurious 4-star Protea Hotel President, overlooking the vast Atlantic unobstructed. This hotel boasts some of the finest views in the city.
The Cape Peninsula is also a great launching pad for all kinds of adventures, and if you're looking for a hotel as extreme as you are the 3-star Protea Hotel Fire and Ice! is the place for you. With its wraparound pool and climbing wall, and a host of other unique features, this hotel truly exceeds its 3-star rating. The leafy and established Southern Suburbs of Cape Town are both tranquil and convenient. Close to the city, but also close to nature. For true exclusivity, you can't match the incredible 5-star Andros Boutique Hotel. A pristinely restored Herbert Baker home set in large park-like gardens in Claremont; it's close to the remarkable Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the oak-avenued Constantia Winelands.
Although well-steeped in its heritage Cape Town is also a rapidly developing city. Century City is a rapidly expanding new urban hub, and you can stay there in luxurious "Cape Venetian" style with the 4-star Protea Hotel Island Club. Right behind you'll find the 4-star Protea Hotel Colosseum, an elegant establishment right next to the largest shopping mall in Africa: Canal Walk. Further north along the N1 national road, you'll find Cape Town's northern suburbs. The 3-star Protea Hotel Tygervalley is a fine hotel in the scenic suburb of Tygerberg with breathtaking views of Cape Town's majestic mountains. Book a Protea Hotel in Cape Town today! |
