Once a 19th Century prison, the hotel today provides comfortable and affordable accommodation in a spectacular setting that looks out over the harbour and up onto Table Mountain.

The Breakwater Lodge boasts 192 bedrooms ranging from business and family suites, with options to choose from single, twin and double en-suite rooms. All of the rooms are welcoming and comfortably furnished. Each is equipped with 22 inch LCD TV with satellite channels/radio and direct dial telephone and supplied with a welcome refreshment tray. Wireless hotspots are available throughout the building.

Other facilities at the hotel include the Time-Out Café, a la carte restaurant and the Stonebreakers self-service restaurant. A business centre operates during office hours and there is secure parking available. The hotel is able to offer first class conference and function facilities for up to 220 delegates at highly competitive rates.

Reception STAFF are always available to help with such essentials as transportation and tours, 24 hours a day, while secure parking is available, accommodating cars and coaches.

The Business Center operates during office hours and offers basic secretarial services and sells toiletries, stationary and Breakwater Lodge memorabilia.

The Hotel is closely linked with the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business and offers first class conference and function facilities at highly competitive rates.

Location

To reach the Breakwater Lodge from the Airport:
1.    Take the N2 from the Airport to town.  The N2 and N1 meet up at this point.
2.    Carry on straight over the traffic lights passed the Holiday Inn Hotel.
3.    At the next set of traffic lights, turn right into Western Boulevard.
4.    Take the right hand lane that leads to a small set of robots leading into Portswood Road.
5.    Turn right into Portswood Road.
6.    The Breakwater Lodge entrance is the third entrance on one’s right hand side.

The V & A Waterfront offers a multitude of celebrated eateries and entertainment centres, including The Two Oceans Aquarium and the Green Dolphin jazz restaurant, arts & crafts in the Red Shed and open-air shows at the Amphiteatre.

The hotel is within easy reach of Cape Town's main beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay and Blouberg, mountain walks and city hotspots, museums and various sporting activities. Cultural attractions include museums, art galleries and township tours.

Accommodation at the Breakwater Lodge operated by Protea Hotels comprises 192 bedrooms (including business and family suites), with options ranging from twin, double and single rooms with en-suite bath, to single and twin rooms.

We have converted our 84 Share Shower Rooms into 42 Family Units. The Family Units will be sold in the following bed configurations:

1. Double Unit - 1 Double bed
2. Triple Unit - 1 Double bed in one room and 2 single beds in other room
3. Quad Unit - 2 Single beds in each room

The rooms are all comfortable, welcoming and attractively furnished as well as being equipped with 22 inch LCD Television sets with an 11 channel DSTV package, radio and a direct-dial telephone. If you need a little refreshment, a welcome tray with biscuits and the facility to make your own tea and coffee is supplied.

Stonebreakers is a self service restaurant catering for all hotel GUESTS, delegates and students. It is located on the ground floor of Block C and serves buffet meals or snacks, sandwiches, drinks and beverages throughout the day.

The ambience is relaxed and streamlined, with an emphasis on convenience and comfort. This restaurant offers an exciting buffet cycle menu and monthly themed lunches. Enjoy magnificent views of the V&A Waterfront while dining with us out on the large patio.

Time Out Cafe

Time Out Cafe is a restaurant offering a relaxed atmosphere with fantastic views and a delicious menu to choose from. The chefs won't keep you waiting when putting together their "salads-in-a-second" and "meals-in-a-minute!"
• However, if you have a moment to really chill out, we have some succulent dishes where the main ingredient is a little time...

The Time Out Cafe has been designed to accommodate local business people, wanting a quick wholesome meal, or tourists and shoppers, wishing to have a leisurely cappuccino and delectable treat from our "Plenty-of-Time" desserts and cakes menu. The cafe will also appeal to locals looking for dinner with a difference in a funky new setting and those seeking a new venue for after work drinks and sundowners off the "Good-Times" cocktail menu.
