Located in the heart of the 4-Star Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton and overlooking the beautiful gardens and swimming pool, lies The Colony restaurant. The restaurant is open five days a week for breakfast from 06h30 to 10h00 and weekends from 07h00 to 10h30, where a lavish full English breakfast buffet is served. The restaurant is closed for lunch and dinner. Prokard Gold is accepted.

The Bull Run Restaurant

The Bull Run Restaurant exemplifies a wealth of good taste and is the latest innovation in Sandton dining. Indulge your senses in our warm, spacious interior, embellished with fine wood and face brick, catering for the connoisseurs of choice meat and select wines. Visit our in-house butchery for fresh cuts of maturely aged meat, cut and packed for your specific requirements. The Bull Run Restaurant is a must for both local and international GUESTS alike. Enjoy fresh oysters while sipping an exotic cocktail on the terrace. Open daily for Lunch and Dinner, Monday to Sunday. Closed on Saturday for lunch. Prokard Gold is accepted.

Lords Cigar Bar

Lords Cigar Bar is a refined Lounge bar, decorated in luxurious solid wood furnishings, chandeliers, and rich plush upholstery. A vast variety of specialty cocktails are available and hot savories are served daily at 17h00. International cigars from all over the world are imported. Choose one from our specially designed cigar menu.

Crown Court Lounge

The Crown Court Lounge is a sophisticated airy lounge, beautifully appointed with a languid English Country atmosphere, complete with an open-hearth fireplace which is lit throughout the winter months. The Crown Court Lounge boasts its own private bar, which is open from 16h00 to 22h00 each evening. Situated in the vicinity of the Lounge is a secluded change room, complete with shower and adjoining bathroom. This is ideal for either very early arrivals, or very late departures.

The Pool Terrace

The Oval Coffee Shop is located in the Protea Hotel Balalaika lobby and offers a variety of light meals such as fresh Tramezzini and Ciabatta with numerous selections of different fillings. Fitness Centre

The state-of-the art fitness centre, situated within the Protea Hotel Balalaika, is furnished with all of the latest gym equipment. This will ensure that our GUESTS keep up to date with their training programme whilst staying with us for either business or leisure. The fitness centre also has two private Men's and Ladies change and shower rooms, each boasting their own steam baths. Towels are supplied. The fitness centre is open daily between the hours of 05h00 and 21h00, at no additional charge to residents. Children under the age of 16 years need to be accompanied by an adult.

1. Take the R24 to JOHANNESBURG. Travel for approximately 10KM
2. Take the N3 turnoff to PRETORIA. Pass the LINKSFIELD and MODDERFONTEIN
3. Take the MARLBORO DRIVE off ramp; turn left at traffic lights. Carry on along MARLBORO DRIVE, past Shell service stations and under bridge until you get to a T-Junction
4. Turn left at T-Junction into KATHERINE STREET
5. Go along KATHERINE until third set of traffic lights
6. Turn right into GRAYSTON DRIVE
7. Carry on along GRAYSTON until you get to intersection of GRAYSTON DRIVE AND RIVONIA ROAD
8. Turn left into RIVONIA ROAD. At second set of traffic lights turn right into MAUDE STREET, the Village Walk shopping centre is on your left-hand side

1. Take M1 highway to PRETORIA
2. Take GRAYSTON DRIVE off-ramp
3. Turn left at the traffic lights into GRAYSTON DRIVE
4. Carry on along GRAYSTON DRIVE until intersection of GRAYSTON DRIVE and RIVONIA ROAD; turn left into RIVONIA ROAD
5. At the second set of traffic lights turn right into MAUDE STREET, the Village Walk shopping centre is on your left hand side, and the entrance to the Parking
6. Travel for approximately 100m, the Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton is on your left-hand side.

1. Take the M1 to JOHANNESBURG
2. Take the GRAYSTON off ramp

The 4-Star Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton comprises 330 luxurious en-suite bedrooms which consist of 18 Executive Suites, 4 Deluxe rooms, 8 two-bedroomed suites, 1 one-bedroomed suite, 193 king-bedded rooms, 104 twin-bedded rooms and 2 paraplegic rooms.

The hotel has two sparkling swimming pools surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens. All rooms are a delightful reflection of the English Country theme of the hotel and are fitted to exceed the four star rating. All rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning and heating, private bathrooms with separate showers, modem points, adaptor points for international plugs, T.V. with an additional five satellite stations, three German channels, M-Net, radio, tea/coffee making facilities and electronic safes. Mini-bars are available on request. The 4-Star Protea Hotel Balalaika is a non-smoking hotel.

The Bull Run

The Bull Run serves top quality, maturely aged meat, specialising in prime cuts of choice meat; rump, sirloin, fillet, T-bone, rib-eye and fillet mignon. All meat and biltong, is hand-cut on the premises daily by our in-house butcher, Karl-Heinz Leske. The Bull Run also vacuum packs choice cuts of meat to specific requirements, for both local and international GUESTS. Executive Chef Jacques Etsebeth, makes not only traditional meat dishes, but also caters to seafood lovers with a fine selection of fish dishes, and for non meat-eaters there is superb selection of salads and vegetarian dishes.

The Bull Run Restaurant is a proud owner of an award winning wine list which gives wine lovers something to look forward to. In addition to that The Bull Run also offers a fine selection of Cigars, Whiskeys and Cognacs.

As is the rising trend with restaurants, our Kitchen, Meat-cooler and Butchery are in plain site for all our guests to see. The restaurant is divided in to two main inside sections, Smoking and Non-smoking. They each seat approximately 70 and 150 people. On sunny days our guests can make use of the terrace to enjoy an exotic cocktail or a bottle of Champagne and indulge with a plate of fresh Luderitz Oysters. The terrace is in walking distance from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and seats 40 guests. The interior comprises fine wood and raw face bricks, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The fireplace adds to this atmosphere, especially when it's lit during the colder months.
